The United States Small Business Administration (SBA) is an independent agency of the United States Government that provides support to entrepreneurs and small businesses. It offers assistance to those starting a business as well as to current businesses. Some of the services that the SBA provides are loan programs, small business development centers, technical assistance, and other services that are beneficial to small businesses.
7(a) loan program
If you are a small business, you may be eligible for a Small Business Administration (SBA) 7(a) loan. This loan program provides financing to businesses in underserved areas.
SBA offers many different types of loans. They include microloans, revolving lines of credit, and short-term loans. These loans are guaranteed by the SBA. Depending on the loan type, interest rates and fees vary.
To be eligible for a 7(a) loan, you must have a for-profit business, and meet other requirements. You can find out more about these requirements at the SBA’s website.
A loan under the SBA 7(a) program is usually a revolving line of credit for up to seven years. Interest rates for this loan type are not as high as some other types of loans. However, your lender can only charge you a maximum rate that the SBA has set.
In order to participate in the SBA 7(a) loan program, lenders must be supervised by either federal or state banking regulators. They must also be in good standing with the SBA.
PTAC (procurement technical assistance centers)
Procurement Technical Assistance Centers, or PTACs, provide businesses with one-on-one counseling and training on how to bid and win government contracts. PTACs are free to use and offer small business owners advice and support to help them navigate the federal contracting landscape.
PTACs are part of a nationwide network of procurement experts. These professionals can work with you to develop sustainable research and networking strategies and prepare your proposals and bids.
In addition to providing training and counseling on how to bid for government contracts, PTACs can also help with marketing, audits, and registration in systems such as SAM. PTACs offer one-on-one guidance and have a number of locations throughout the United States. They are open to all businesses, including service-disabled veteran owned businesses.
A PTAC can help you find and register to participate in the federal government’s System for Award Management, or SAM. Additionally, PTACs can help you develop a business plan and develop a marketing strategy.
Export assistance centers
Export assistance centers for small business administrations provide businesses with access to finance and help them export to foreign markets. The Centers are staffed by experts from several government organizations.
The United States Small Business Administration (SBA) offers a variety of loan programs that can help small business owners to expand. The SBA also provides loan guarantees for export loans.
SBA loan programs are a great way for lenders to help their small business clients obtain financing for international trade. These loan programs are backed by a 90 percent guarantee. This guarantees that participating banks will be able to make loans.
The Small Business Administration works with the Export-Import Bank of the U.S. and EXIM Bank to provide assistance to exporters. In addition to loans, the Bank offers credit guarantee and other products that can assist in developing export sales.

Women’s business centers
Women’s business centers are one of the programs run by the Small Business Administration (SBA). These offices provide resources to women entrepreneurs and help them to start a new business. The centers offer mentoring, networking, training, and counseling.
To find a women’s business center, the SBA website has an online search tool. You can enter your zip code to find the closest center. If you need more assistance, you can contact the center to schedule a free consultation with a counselor.
The SBA’s Women’s Business Centers Program is a national network of more than 140 offices that offer a variety of services to women who are starting or expanding a business. Some of the centers’ programs focus on funding, business preparation, management, and leadership. While some centers may offer self-guided workshops, other centers provide full-service programs with mentors, instructors, and more.
One of the goals of the program is to make small business financing available to women entrepreneurs. In addition to providing access to funding, Women’s Business Centers also offer other forms of assistance, such as lending referrals and loan package preparation.
